A closer look…
The global issue of climate change is becoming more and more dire every day and its effects on the environment have already become observable. Despite the extensive scientific evidence on climate change and the disastrous affect it has on the future, much of society retains a flippant attitude towards the problem. One possible reason for apathy in regards to climate change may be a lack of education or understanding on the topic. In order to raise awareness for this kind of audience, I created a simple infographic. This infographic conveys scientific evidence of climate change in easy to understand terms and simple visual representations of data.
The affects of climate change, do not discriminate. More people should care about the issue because its negative affects will affect everyone, regardless of race, region, status, or gender.
I looked at the data on Global CO2 Levels from 1000 AD to 2018. The data source showed the percentage of how much lower each data point was from today’s CO2 Level. I thought that this comparison was an effective way to communicate how drastic CO2 levels have increased but I wanted to frame it in a more concise way that could easily be understood on an infographic. I averaged the percentage of how much lower CO2 levels were from every 100 years since 1000 AD to the year 2000. This means that today’s (2018’s) CO2 levels are 29% higher than they have been in the past 1018 years.
